It’s amazing how powerful words can be.

Words in themselves can forge bonds, burn bridges, fuel passions , and ignite conversations.

[I mean] when you hear :

that barista call out your name with that Frappachino
[a passion ignites like no other]

when the insurance salesman says you saved “$$$$” by switching to Geicho
[your wallet squeals with joy, which makes your significant other happy]

when your at a party, and get into a heated debate, Scandal VS Grey’s Anatomy
[scandal DUH. ok to be fair, I haven’t watched Grey’s] I know.. I know it’s on my list

And nothing is more powerful on date night then hearing these three much-anticipated words :
Pizza , Netflix, Wine?
[See what I mean?]

Most of our communication is done via actual words. [“Ya know, “the words that are coming out of my mouth” ] , but with the dawn of technology and the internet , so many of words are now taken out of context.

[Don’t get me wrong. I love you internet] Many words are being sent via text, email, web, & emoticon. Yes. I said emoticon. How many conversations have you had via text that had emoticon? Don’t lie. You know you do. [I love emoticon so hard on Instagram].

But sometimes , we’ve stopped ,using our words. Stopped having conversations. So when people actually start a “real conversation”, it becomes, this huge debate. Every participant suddenly has wolverine claws, on the defense. Its all one big emotion. [We’re so sparked with our emotional response] to their topic, That it is no longer a conversation. The concept of talking and listening is lost. No longer do people respect people’s thoughts, feelings, & perceptions.

I’m guilty as charged. When my husband try’s to ‘buy the cheaper pizza at the grocery store’, without blinking in eye, “What I need the large one?!” See I’m driven by emotion.
Some food for thought. I shall get back on track.

So I bring this up, [due to reading “Tales from The Crypt” ] Nathena’s   theblissmagnet.com Blog.

[you should check it out. It’s awesome]

She was brave enough to share a traumatic event that had conspired. It’s a beautifully well-written essay on different layers of ourselves that are shed during our life. What falls off for others to see? What is concealed till no longer unavoidable? What in time do these layers conspire to reveal & in turn create? I was struck by her honest , brave, and open story. Aren’t we all just layers? We let others “see” what we want them to see.

What I was struck by more was the [other bloggers] listening. In the comments below, they we’re being supportive , positive, and cheering her voice. They we’re applauding her [as was I] and that in itself was motivating. Her words we’re inspiring , and ironically, in turn, so we’re the responses. It was a breathe of fresh air to see a conversation.

Also, her essay, sparked a reflection in myself. It was a specific essay, but yet somehow, I related. It made me delve into my own thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. What do I let people see? And can they ever “unsee”? Which struck [again] an emotion. Her essay [and the fellow bloggers that commented] made me feel inspired. It made me want to help, to build others up, and make people smile. I love that. Pun intended.

[Positivity and the sense of community is indeed contagious.]

Also reading her quotes from essay, inspired me to want to write a scene from a movie.
I’m just saying. It might pop up again. [see my comment on her post]

I wrote this in captions!

I wrote this in captions!

And that all started from some words…

It takes just a few words to start a movement .

It’s your choice which direction it goes in.

[So]

Pumpkin Spiced Latte or Peppermint Mocha?

Quirky and inspired by positivity [and peppermint mocha’s] ,

Kelli

[I finally added an About Me , thought I would post as a Blog Post as well.]

Somewhere between : almost falling off a stage in a clown /tutu costume , eating a dozen cookies in a commercial , and being so “method” as the role of Sleepy in “The 7 Dwarfs” ..
Kelli knew she had found her place in the world as an actress/comedian/writer.
She also realized : its weird to write in the third person. Umm. Hey Guys. I’m Kelli.

My 1st Headshot. [Hi Mom! I'd like to thank the Academy...]

My 1st Headshot.
[Hi Mom! I’d like to thank the Academy…]

A trained actor from “All Over The Place” USA, [literally pick a place. I probably made a cameo] and having been employed at various cool places around the country [literally pick a place. I probably made a cameo] Oh, & Universal Studios Orlando. I heart you.
I tote one of those Certificates of BFA [ that you put in fancy frames on the wall ] and have a soft-spot for laughing & puppies.

[I mean] You don’t spend 14 hours on-set …unless you love it.
Or they give you millions of dollars. Let’s be reel. I’m not Angelina Jolie.
I don’t make millions of dollars. [but I do think Angelina is really awesome]

But basically If I’m being paid to: perform, write , make da funnies , tweet something cool, or there is a puppy nearby [Im happy]

[Off-set] I am very passionate about :

our rescue dogs, animals in general, my husband
[whoop! …I think he’s secretly a super-hero] ,
Inspiration, Positivity, Making people smile / & or laugh, Netflix, the arts, Gluten-free treats,
Food in general, Non-Profits, Top Ten Lists , Taking Photos of our dogs, Lifestyle Stuff, healthy living & fun travels & new adventures with my family.

In an un-perfect world: I would just love to be one blog post away [from a sitcom & a book deal.]
[Squad Goals include being surrounded by a pack of dogs on a daily basis {One Day} ]

So …
That’s About it.

Quirky & [Thanks for reading my ‘About’ Page],
Kelli

I always tell the girls, never take it seriously, if ya never take it seriously, ya never get hurt, ya never get hurt, ya always have fun, and if you ever get lonely, just go to the record* store and visit your friends.
-Penny Lane [Almost Famous]

I’m sure when Penny Lane , said record* store, she probably meant [Retail] store.

Penny was very wise.

Hi I'm Penny Lane. I love laughing, smiling, and I'm no groupie! [except maybe to fashion.]

She made great fashion choices, was original, creative ,was super nice, and always had on a cute outfit. [plus her name is awesome]

As you guys know by now ; I’ve been revamping my closet.
Oh. Yes! ..If you’re just tuning in .. [hold onto your butts]
I’m re-vamping my closet & style.
See previous posts [ “How to rock cool clothes already in your closet”
& “How to obtain a Minimalist closet” ]

It’s Monday. So I feel like I need an extra boost.
Ok. I need a revolution.
I woke up to fall breezes and puppy kisses.

Hi Mommy! We'll be over here sleeping , while you do important work stuff.

Hi Mommy! We’ll be over here sleeping , while you do important work stuff.

So yes. I’d love to just go back to bed.

About 2 cups of coffee in, “I was like what do I wear today?
“Ooo that new chocolate creamer …I got from Whole Foods is awesome, Kelli stay on track.. What do I wear today?”

Let’s think outside the box.
My outfit is inspired by a TV show or a Movie?
[cuz why not?!]
Monday outfit is brought to you by my spirited closet , practical cheap finds, and the love child of “Almost Famous” & ” That 70’s Show”.

  1. High-waisted Flare Jeans

I didn’t think I’d want high-waist jeans. I didn’t want to look like a mom from the 80’s.
But these are cute, comfortable (soft!) & awesomely priced. That’s the best part.
You can find good deals at outlets. You can find great deals on the clearance rack at Outlets.
I got these at the gap factory outlet. They were on SALE + additional 60% off= $12 jeans.
I just wish I had a skinny brown belt.

All you need is Flare. All you need is Flare. All you need is Flare , Flare. Flare Jeans are all you need.

All you need is Flare. All you need is Flare. All you need is Flare , Flare.
Flare Jeans are all you need.

2.  Striped 3/4 Shirt

If we learned anything from Foreman on “That 70’s show”, a striped shirt is always a good idea.
I’m a big fan of blue, so I liked the blue-yellow combo. Soft, fitted , Stretchy. Versatile top can be worn with quite a bit. Would look cute with some corduroy leggings & boots. What’s better is the price. American Eagle Outfitters – Goodwill = $1.25 . That’s right. $1.25. You can find new-gently worn merchandise at Goodwill. After all [I am in the middle of purging my closet] whatever I don’t sale, I’ll be donating to Goodwill.

Man. All I'm seeing is Stripes. Stripes , I tell you. Stripes.

Man. All I’m seeing is Stripes. Stripes , I tell you. Stripes.

3. Accessorize

Now if this was an official, “Penny Lane’ ” style outfit, it would require a fake fur & sunnies.
[But I chose to personalize my accessories.]

*Engagement & Wedding Ring [yes. I know. I’m cheesy . I lovvvve it. Pun intended]

*Silver Vintage-style picture locket
[gift from my husband. Yes. I still need to put a picture in the locket]

*Animal rescue bracelet [proceeds benefit ASPCA]

*Survival Bracelet [you never know when you need to defend yourself against a star-struck groupie, box of dozen donuts, or rush hour traffic]

*Fake Birkenstocks from my closet [probably about 10 years old]

My accessories! [In case you had any doubts.]

My accessories!
[In case you had any doubts.]

Accessories can really tie an outfit together.

Next time ,I’ll totally rock some flowers, in my hair.

I promise.[ok. Let’s be real. this is a very tame outfit]

hey, I’m proud to not just wear Yoga pants,

come on … at least the inspiration was there.

So happy [fall] is here!

Selfie for Fall! Because I'm that happy .. It's fall.

Selfie for Fall!
Because I’m that happy ..
It’s fall.

What are some of your fall fashion inspirations?

If you could dress in any time period, [what & why] ?
Is there a look that you love from a movie or TV show?

Ps. The pumpkin spice latte is back. [but I’ll bet you already knew that]

Quirky & flare jeans for days ,
Kelli

Just as the one-word prompt, inspired 1,000 words , in my last post…

A single image was able to inspire a creative spark as well. [in a much different tone than my usual Quirky blog post],

i absolutely love film & television.

I enjoy watching movies.

reading screenplays.

acting for the screen.

and learning the art of film-making

and being entertained by the art of Cinema.

So Imagine this:

You are sitting home one night. It’s your night off. You have no chores, duties, or work to attend to.

You push menu – [Netflix]-  is ready to instant-stream its new releases. You push play.

image

Fade In:
EXT – Downtown Los Angeles, CA – Late Night (ESTABLISHING 2016)

Open to a sea of flickering street lights. The HUM of dull streetlights fill the air.
Cars race down numerous crossing highways. SIRENS wail. Car HORNS scream. Club MUSIC Pulses. The night is alive & living through the city of ANGELS.

In the distance, a power line, abruptly falls. We hear SNAP. SNAP. SNAP. Suddenly, another power line falls, and cars begin to swerve. We see a FLOOD of RED brake lights. Cars brake, sharply turn, to avoid chaos. Traffic begins to slam into one another. Cars pulse brakes. SCREECHES fill the stale air.

…The downed power lines begin to SPARK … A BOOM is heard… And a BLAZE of fire erupts on the highway. Dark SMOKE starts to billow…

The haze of SMOKE grows. A FIGURE starts to rise in the foreground.
A MAN stands cloaked. A hoodie has covered his face. He lunges and GROANS out in pain.

MAN (V.O)
What day is it? GROANS.
It must be time.
It’s time to take my city back.

SMOKE completely fills the sky. Everywhere. Gradual fade to black.

Insert Title: The Task Master.

My first instinct upon seeing this image , was OK. This is Definitely a TV or Movie.

What is happening?

I was inspired & intruiged.

The start of me writing this opening scene …

Made me want to continue to write it.

Would you continue to watch? Read? Are you inspired by the Cinema?

What are some of your favorite shows & movies?

Feel free to like, comment, emoji below!

“Prompts come in many different forms.
Sometimes, a single word is all you need to get your mind’s wheels turning. ”

Six words we’re on a word prompt list, and I chose love… Or did it choose me?
[Settle In. This is a long post guys]

Depending on what you believe, some things are chosen for us in life.
Some things are placed in our life, and we have the choice to incorporate that in our life.
I mean, if a donut is sitting on the counter, we have a choice to eat it. We can take it.. Leave it …or just take the whole box!
But with that being said it is still a choice. I mean, One donut or twelve, it’s all relative. Right? (Excuse me, I need to wipe this glaze off ma face)

I remember seeing the adorably cute movie, ” Serendipity”, [a la Romantic Comedy John Cusack & Kate Beckinsale]and thinking hmm “what if that happened to me?!”

Granted , I’ve never been to NYC , and I’m terrible at ice skating, and I’ve never been known to lose mittens… But I have lost my marbles every now & then …
But the belief and the hope of one-true destined love. Yes. I know. It’s very Jane Austen.

I’ve always secretly been a hopeless-romantic.
[YES. I do love “The Notebook”. Hush yourself]
I went thru a phase of :
” I don’t need anyone”
” I’ll never marry”
“Train wreck Phase” [literally]
And had always been convinced the zombie apocalypse would occur, before I would find the love for me.

So I tell the story. Of me & Lee. The man that [almost]wasn’t in my life.

We both grew up all over the country randomly moving (which all by itself is odd).
[Something like 5 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 4 high school’s kinda vibe]
We both we’re used to being the new kid, being adaptable, and never having a “home town”.
It is very unique we both had that upbringing, and definitely has molded us in adulthood.
Sometime during my elementary school years , between a playground & a field trip, there is a chance we we’re in the same area in the Carolina’s.

In our late teens, Lee was living in Jacksonville, Fl …just minutes away from my mom’s house. That same year , I moved to Jacksonville , Fl and he moved to Orlando, Fl . For a brief period, two strangers, lived in the same city…

Seasonally [several summers later]

I got a job as an improv actor at Universal Studios Orlando .

It was a seasonal summer show .
My coordinator was my future husband.
But I had never met him.
Apparently, he had been in the same room as me, passed me backstage, and had probably let me a voice mail at some point regarding a shift or a schedule change.
Granted , we we’re both taken, but yet again ,we had unknowingly crossed paths.
Love was there. And neither one of us knew.

Fast forward: [Five Years Later]

I am living & working in Orlando as an actor.
I’m being cross-trained into a show at Universal (other than my home venue)

Oh hi! I'm Kelli. & I'm an Actor.

Oh hi! I’m Kelli. & I’m an Actor.

It’s my week of training in, and I look across the room.

There is this guy.
Really cute. [Ok]
Laughing [Ok]
Drinking Coffee [Ok]
Really cute [did I already say that?]
Saying really smart, sarcastic , and witty statements. [Im in trouble]

I’m not going to say the room stopped.
But he damn sure got my attention.
Like all my attention.
Not only is he cute & smart. He makes me laugh. I’m in big trouble…

Few days had passed, I had small-talk with him in the break room, he left sticky-notes around the stage.

It almost made me laugh a few times. This guy is interesting & smart.
As the venue was closing down for the evening, he said it was his last night.
He was being moved across the park to a new stage. I thought “Hmm. Well he’s really cool. I’ll add him on Facebook.”

He added me , and we talked everyday [for hours] , for over a month
Finally, I asked him to grab a coffee. I love coffee. He loves coffee. Destiny?
Our first date was at a Starbucks at Universal.
It was awesome. We kept talking everyday . Taking long walks together. Going on Dates.
This went on for a few weeks. I liked him a lot. And then it scared me.

We had a date one Saturday night after work.
I thought: ” Um. This is too good to be true. This can’t be real. I gotta get out of this”….

Because all of those thoughts are reasonable & rational. [and completely ludicrous]
Over a pizza pie and a soda this speech’ sounded something like

“I’m not ready for this. I like you , I think maybe we should just be friends”.

He smiled and said “Ok, I’m just going to have to woo you”.
I laughed , ” Ok yea. Um. I’m not ready to see any fireworks.”

As we walk out of the pizzeria , fireworks erupt , in the background.
Because this is a movie right?
[Actually just part of Universal’s summer concert series]
I start to turn & look at them…
“Well don’t look now, there’s fireworks” Lee retorted with a smile.

That night, as he dropped me off, he kissed me. Our first kiss.

As sappy as it sounds, the kiss was everything. It was awesome. Like movie-worthy guys.
…As I ran off towards my apartment [yes I ran off]…
I somehow knew. That was it.
Love Actually.

What do you do love? Whom do you love? Do you love eating chocolate and watching “The Notebook”?

Thanks for going back in time to our story.
Maybe this shall be a series: our move to the mountains, his proposal, and discuss our big move to Seattle. A love series? Aw cue Kleenex. We’re one take away from a hallmark movie.
We we’re like destined to live in Seattle. Together.
I mean, coffee . Starbucks. first date.
It is Serendipity?

Our first vacation to St. Augustine [when we we're dating] and first official FB picture together! [ooo. Their together?!]

Quirky and now married in Love,

I’m currently in the process of cutting down my closet.
[See blog post “A Tutorial on how to have a minimalistic closet”]

I want to have a more streamlined+ simple+minimalistic type of wardrobe .
[Same goes for our house goods & the general vibe of our space.]

It also just so happens we’re moving cross-country next year.
And we have far too much “crap /junk/stuff/where did that come from?”
So yeah.. time to get rid of the clutter.. And keep only what is needed.

I recently read someone saying , ” I want experiences, not stuff” , and that’s cool. I like that.
And we’ll get there eventually. Just not yet. I’m sure that’s a Blogpost waiting to happen.
Actually. Yes. You can count on it.

So back to the wardrobe and cutting down my closet.
Even though, I’m only halfway thru cutting down my wardrobe, I’m starting to pull things I didn’t realize I had! Oh look. Free Awesome clothes.

This selection is:
+ Target Purchases
+On-Sale /Clearance items
+Past Season

Basic black Xhilaration Leggings. [with square metallic stud siding]

Leggings are great.
You can pair with long shirts, sweaters , layer, skirts, dresses, baby doll dresses.
Pretty sure they cost me $2. All season you can find different leggings like this.
They typically run from $2-$8.
I like the studs on the side. [re-inventing my style to look kinda rocker /boho/grunge ]
Black is always a good idea. Always in style.
I love the different shoes I can wear with them.
Shoe Choice: Motorcycle boots / Booties / Converse / Birkenstocks ~ today’s choice
Just make sure you cover , all your parts. You’re Welcome. You don’t want to be “that girl”.

All the Leggings!

All the Leggings!

2. Converse-All Star- Plaid Shirt Dress with cap sleeve

I’m a big fan of the converse collection.
But then again .. Converse are my favorite shoes… So I’m a tad biased
This little dress I had completely forgotten I wore to an audition.
Complete with thin wrap around brown belt [which would go great with other shirt dresses]
It’s comfortable, and the ruffle /plaid combo is cute.
It is a nice mix of feminine menswear.
Plus shirt dresses are all the rage right now. [thank you 90’s]
I’m not a “dress-up” kinda girl. It’s a shirt. And a dress.
If I recall this was around $7. So yes, we’re up to $9 . [for 2 awesome interchangeable pieces]

3. Black thin cami
A must staple item in any wardrobe
“Remember that time your button-down popped open?
Yes. So do we.”
Can literally be worn under anything
Thin & breathes well
Was like $2

Beautiful Dog Model: Spencer our Mini-Aussie !

Beautiful Dog Model:
Spencer our Mini-Aussie !

What I’ve realized:

+You probably have really cute fashion finds in your closet already. SCORE.
+Pieces that are interchangeable for day/night/a completely different season
+It’s FREE . Didn’t cost you anything to pull from your own wardrobe
[and yes, you already bought them. But it was like $11]
+Re-inventing from your own wardrobe makes you feel like your very own fashion designer & I already feel cool.

“Well kinda cool. Hey. I put this together!”
+Plus it’s practical , reasonable styles, that you’ll ACTUALLY wear.

+ target is so good to me. (Duh. I already knew that)

+Spencer the Mini-Aussie really wanted to wear the shirt dress.

Next time your shopping :
– check out the clearance.
-current ‘trends’ are probably very similar to last seasons picks
-you can mix & match for all seasons
[which makes for a very organized & streamlined closet]

– double check your closet first!
What are some of your favorite fashion finds?

When in doubt : Selfie with your dog. [Doing my best Spencer impression.]

I write because : (oh boy. A lot of reasons. How much time do you have?)
As an actor: it’s my job to facilitate the screenwriter/ playwright/ director vision thru my performance. I can put layers , quirks, characterization, and completely change my appearance. I am merely a vessel (so to speak). It is my objective to fulfill their vision.
But as a writer.. I’m In the driver seat. …It’s my voice. Literally. (hi!)

It’s another form of creativity to leave my mark in the world.

What I love about writing: is the different voices I can take on.
A blog post about a rescue dog organization, a chapter of a children’s book series, a sketch parody on a topical scenario, a dramatic web-series …. Different perspectives , styles, tone…

And it’s all different ways to reach & connect with an audience.
Acting for me was always a way to reach an audience. I always hope my performance somehow will impact a person. It’s an escape.

But, I feel as though as a writer, I can do so much more. I can reach so many more.
I want to : Make people laugh. Make people smile. Provide Entertainment. Educate. Speak for those who can’t. Impact . Make a difference. Stand for something or someone. Help others & organizations in need. Provide honest, truthful , & humorous perspectives on life & love.

It could be 3 words or 5,000 words.

Writing could have nothing to do with me. I’m the voice for someone or something, and I’m able to help others. (I have a strong passion for animals, animal rights/rescues, non-profits, helping anyone in need)

I want to be a person my husband & family can be proud of.

There is nothing I am more passionate about then my family.

Nothing in the world I love more.
Our (future) child can look back and say “Mommy did this. She made me laugh. She wrote that. She helped those people or that animal group” it’s a vague blanket’ statement. No pun intended.

But it’s a way for me to speak.

Help others.

Live life with passion, hope, & humor.

Inspire others.

A way to give back.

I firmly believe laughter can like solve almost anything.

You never know who is having a rough time (on the other side of that screen). That silly pun written on the page …

It could really help.
So : One blog post, screenplay, play, comedy sketch, ‘top 10’ “omg watch this TV show ” list … at a time…. Till next time.

And here's a smiling dog photo. Because it's adorable. (Our Border Collie Salvatore says Sup!)

And here’s a smiling dog photo. Because it’s adorable.

Quirky & I absolutely love writing,

It’s back!

Week 2 of Awkward Family Photo (Furry) Series.

As promised , I will post an awkward photo of the family (or the puppies) every Sunday night.

Let’s see. A lot is going on tonight.

The family had taco’s for dinner, Law & Order: SVU  Marathon on Netflix, and Kanye for President?

I don’t know the details, but my Twitter feed was going crazy.

Here is Spencer’s response to Kanye’s I’m not serious/serious?  announcement:

Say whatttt?

Say whatttt?

Thoughts? Comments? Any more VMA Announcements ? (Cuz we’re watching Law & Order)

Quirky & funny Puppy Facial Expressions when announcements get made,

Kelli

So it was announced yesterday via the Internet (ok, the New York Times Arts Twitter @NYTimesArts) that :

Well. Tweet.

Well. Tweet.

and this is my public response.

Ok. Apparently Jennifer Lawrence & Amy Schumer are writing a movie together.

Hi. I’ll be your token brunette girl!
Please?
I’ll laugh at all your jokes & trip and fall & say random sassy things.
See . I’m begging. I’ve begged.
It’s already really awkward & weird. serendipitous or something. Serenity. Or . ..um really cool. Yea.

That’s it. That’s all I got.

Quirky & Wanting to be in this movie,

Kelli
